Windows + L
Who doesn’t like a shortcut?
Who doesn’t like a shortcut?
Life, today, is all about shortcuts. When we’re travelling to work, we prefer taking shortcuts, when we’re standing in line at the supermarket, we don’t hesitate on grabbing the opportunity to shift to the shortest or the fastest moving line and even when we’re working, if a situation presents itself where we can take a shortcut, we tend to grab it as fast as possible. Therefore, it is only natural that when it comes to keyboard short cuts for your laptop or desktop, it helps to know the ones that are not used very commonly and the ones that can make your life easier. Here are some awesome keyboard shortcuts, that probably you didn’t know off, which will help you become an expert in office.
Windows + L
Keyboard Shortcuts are a great way to increase productivity as they save a lot of time and help you relieve the pain of using a mouse all the time (literally and figuratively as well). This particular one is really useful and a total time saver. Remember, how you have to double up and go back to your desk to make sure that your laptop screen has been locked. Gets a little annoying right? From now on, when you have to leave your workstation for a short while, just press the windows key along with the ‘L’ key, this shortcut allows you to lock your screen when you’re away for a quick break.
Ctrl Key + F
Reading a lengthy, three-page long document to find one particular word or sentence can be quite time consuming and let’s admit, a little annoying as well. Wouldn’t it be simpler if there was a way to find the word, number or sentence in a way that was much faster and less time consuming? Well, there is. By pressing Ctrl along with the ‘F’ key, you’ll be able to open a navigation box, that pops up on the side, which in turn will enable you to search for any word, number or sentence recurring in the document. The best part about this shortcut is that it really allows you to optimize the time at hand and increase productivity, especially when you’re in a hurry to meet a deadline.
Windows Key + Number (1-9)
This particular shortcut is a great way of getting the exact tab that you need opened without fumbling about too much. When you press the windows key along with any number from 1 through 9, the corresponding application pinned to the task-bar in that position will open up instantly. If you want to start a new instance or a duplication of an already opened application, then all you have to do is press the windows key along with shift and the corresponding number from 1 through 9 of the application pinned to the task-bar in that position. This is a great shortcut for when you’re in a meeting or a presentation and you need to open something in a jiffy.
Windows Key+ M
We all have those moments at work when we do everything apart from tasks that are work related. Sometimes we get so absorbed in it that we forget to take notice of our surroundings and before we realize it, it’s too late to cover up for your moment of slack. This particular keyboard shortcut is perfect to get away with a moment of lapse at the workplace. Just press the windows key along with ‘M’ and it will allow you to minimize all the open tabs and documents at once, leaving only your desktop exposed. To restore, just hold the windows key + shift + ‘M’, and all you closed tabs will pop right up again. Another way of minimizing all your open documents and files in by pressing Windows key + ‘D’. So, the next time your boss is wandering about, you know what to do!
Shift Key + Delete
When we delete a file from our laptops, we feel like it’s gone forever, pretty much like the out of sight out of mind principle! But here’s the thing, we often forget all about the recycle bin, the safe haven where all our deleted files rest peacefully. If you want to delete a file and you don’t want to deal with it later in the Recycle Bin, the shortcut you need to know is Shift + Delete. This allows you to get rid of the said file forever from your system, just be absolutely sure that this is a file you won’t want back!
When you’re ever given the opportunity to make something easier for yourself, why wouldn’t you take it, right?!
