What Really Are Christmas Miracles

Have yourself a merry little Christmas!

The most wonderful time of the year is finally here, it’s Christmas eve and with the big day less than twenty-four hours away, the wings beneath our feet just can’t seem to stop fluttering. During this time of the year, the otherwise cynical world seems to care a little bit more, animosity is replaced by camaraderie and though the nip in the air has moved on to become a legitimate chill, we can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside. By popular belief, Christmas is also the time for miracles. Big, small, life altering and the likes, no one takes the power of a Christmas miracle lightly. However, at some point or the other, we’ve all thought about what really comprises a Christmas miracle and are we, as ordinary human beings, capable of making it happen. The answer, of course, is yes. We hear these heart-warming stories of kindness and generosity that don’t take much effort but has the capability of causing unparalleled happiness not only to the people who are on the receiving end, but to the ones who initiate it as well and the truth is that anyone can be a part of it. If you’re wondering how you can truly embody the spirit of Christmas, here are some real miracles that will make your inner Grinch melt away and your (or anyone’s) heart grow three times its size.

Kindness

A quality that everyone needs to experience and attempt at all times, kindness is the first of our Christmas miracles. An attribute that pretty much has a place everywhere in life, the value of kindness has grown tenfold (if not more), especially over the last few years where the world was left reeling from the lack of it. Whether it’s to animals or humans, whether it’s at work or at home, whether it’s towards someone you know or a complete stranger, there’s always room for some kindness.

Sharing

There’s no point denying it, sharing is caring. A vital life skill that is taught to us from a very tender age, the importance of sharing has become nothing if not bigger. While it’s natural for us to be possessive about a few things, when we share the value of it automatically becomes more. From toys and friends to jobs and interests, the more you share the bigger your heart grows. Besides since it is literally that time of the year when giving and sharing comes as a part and parcel of the festivities, this little miracle fits right in!

Gratitude

You never realize how much you’ve got until you lose it all and more often than not, we turn a blind eye to everything that we are so blessed with that a large part of the population do not have the good fortune of enjoying. Irrespective of how much we are convinced that shooting out a mail or a message is enough to thank someone, the reality is that gratitude is perhaps one of the most uplifting feelings you can ever experience. To be able to express gratitude, especially during this time, is truly a Christmas miracle.

Generosity

What is Christmas all about? it’s about love and joy, about friends and family, about reliving old and creating new memories and most importantly, it’s about the spirit of generosity and act of giving, no matter how small the thing in question is. Making someone feel special and spreading the cheer is pretty much the crux of this holiday and the more generous you are, the more reason you’ll find for doing it. Giving is living, so this holiday season, do your bit and live a little larger!

Selflessness

Corinthians 16:14 – “let all that you do, be done in love.” Nothing comes out of selfish ambition and vain conceit and valuing others above yourself is a quality that the world definitely needs more of. One of the phrases you hear a lot during this time of the year is that ‘do you have the Christmas spirit’ and often, this gets you thinking that do we really embody everything that the holiday season stands for. Fortunately, there’s more to this wonderful time of the year than just gifts and good food, it’s also about inherent qualities that shine through from within. When you are selfless extraordinary things can happen, when you are selfless you get more than you can ever anticipate and most importantly, when you are selfless you represent everything that is wonderful about Christmas and the holiday season.

Believe in true miracles, for they have the power to make an actual difference. Merry everything and a very happy always to everyone!
